The spill was emanating from a sea container and was dispersed by forklift traffic and rain. Global Peat was used to absorb the spill. Global Peat absorbs the oil but does not absorb the rain water. The peat was swept up with hard bristle brooms and stored in disposal bags for collection the next day.
The spill entered the pond via storm water drains. The reeds prevented the tight containment by oil booms that would be used in a normal clean up procedure. Global Peat was spread onto the spill and then recovered using pool scoops and sucker trucks.
