The Moldex BITREX respirator fit test kit is a qualitative-type test that is used to determine whether a Moldex particulate respirator is:

• safe to use
• worn correctly
• fits securely

Use the BITREX fit test kit to ensure your personnel are properly protected. It contains everything needed to conduct a qualitative fit test, with written instructions providing an easy to use, step by step guide.

The fit test is a simple pass/fail test. The user’s taste sensitivity to BITREX is firstly checked, then they don the Moldex particulate respirator, put on the fit test hood and the test solution is sprayed into the hood.

• This kit tests the face to facepiece seal to ensure the respirator is secure and fits well.
• Qualitative testing uses sense of smell or taste or reaction to an irritant which would detect leaks.
• The testing kit allows the user to conduct a taste sensitivity test and a threshold sensitivity screening test.

Each fit test item is sold separately and can be easily replaced if used, damaged or lost.

Important fit test requirements to keep in mind:

1. Facial hair can affect the respirator’s ability to protect the user. Anything that interferes with the seal of the respirator to the face disqualifies the subject from wearing a tight fitting respirator.
2. Glasses, goggles or other corrective or protective equipment that will be worn while working must be worn during test, when feasible.
