In mid 2011, a major international Oil & Gas company approached one of our distributors to design and manufacture oil boom for a new project off the north west coast of Western Australia.
Working closely with our distributor and the end user, we were able to come up with a design that met all the engineering requirements and ensured the company met their relevant environmental compliance requirements.
Using standard Global SBW absorbent boom with internal floats, 4km of absorbent boom was manufactured in fully assembled 100m sections that all linked together with stainless steel clips and an overlap to prevent bypass.
Each 100m section had an integral tow rope and additional floats at each end. This allowed simple replacement if required and the ability to rapidly deploy by towing to the spill location with a standard vessel.
Manufacturing locally allowed the tight delivery time line to be met.
