Oil and fuel poly mop

This oil mop is made from polyethylene strands and is used to collect oils such as bunker C, crude, medium fuel oil or other heavy oils that are floating on the water’s surface. The oil mop is attached to a handle and is ideal for use in and around jetties, marinas, rocks and shorelines. Oil mops help to remove the heavy oils which may exist on the water’s surface, even after the spilled hydrocarbon has been skimmed or absorbed.

Oil mops are manufactured from webbed strands of oil-attracting (oleophilic) polyethylene fibres that do not absorb water.

They have a fast-wicking action to clean up spills. Oil and fuel poly mops are hydrophobic, which means they repel water and are ideal for cleaning up fine sheens of remaining oils.

Oil mops can be attached to rope and floated as a barrier, allowing the current to take the spill through the barrier.
