Oil Booms
Oil booms are solid floating barriers to contain oil spills in the ocean, in harbours, rivers, streams, lagoons, etc.A range of booms and sizes are available for use in these different locations.
The most common booms are fence and curtain booms. Fence booms have foam buoyancy while curtain booms may be foam or air filled.
Special purpose booms, such as a tidal boom, have been developed for specific conditions that can not be met satisfactorily with a fence or curtain boom.
All booms have a section above the water to contain the oil with a weighted section under the water for oil containment and stability. All booms rise and fall as the water level changes.
